Turkish organic industry sets target to reach 1 billion Euros…
Stating that the world organic industry has reached 100 billion Euros, Mehmet Ali Işık, Chairman of the Aegean Exporters’ Association Organic Products Board, said that the Turkish organic industry has received 500 million Euros of this global cake and that the aim of the Turkish Organic Industry is to reach a size of 1 billion Euros.
Pointing out that after the pandemic, the health system came to the forefront, President of the Ecological Agriculture Organization Association, Professor Dr. Uygun Aksoy noted, “We have started working on the establishment of an organic network in which all organizations operating in organic sector to participate across Turkey and we aim the industry to grow faster along with the togetherness that we provide.”
The 30-year development of the Turkish Organic Sector was discussed at the TAGYAD Agricultural Talks Meeting organized by the Turkish Guild of Agricultural Journalists (TGAJ – TAGYAD).
Speaking at the meeting moderated by TAGYAD President İsmail Uğural, Aegean Exporters’ Associations Organic Products Board Chairman Mehmet Ali Işık underlined that they laid the foundations of the Turkish organic industry 30 years ago by producing and exporting at the request of the importer companies.
Explaining that despite the organic sector set out at the request of importers 30 years ago, today it has become widespread all over the Turkey, Işık added, “In the beginning we kicked off with grapes, apricots and nuts but now our organic production apart from foods is widespread for textile, cotton, cotton, oils, including cosmetics.”
“We have all worked hard and succeeded in creating Turkey’s organic infrastructure. Today, we have reached a sector size of 500 million Euros. While organic products were sold in small sections in the world, hypermarkets selling 2 thousand kinds of organic products have been created today. We export organic products to more than 40 countries,” Işık concluded…
