Turkiye’s milk and dairy products exports reached 500 million dollars!
İsa Coşkun, Chairperson of Turkiye Milk, Meat, Food Industrialists and Producers’ Association (SETBIR), which carries out the EU-supported “Milk is Valuable” project, said that in 2021, 233 thousand tonnes of milk and dairy products were exported for 487 million dollars. Coşkun said, “This is not a sufficient number for a large country like Turkiye. One of our goals is to increase this figure even higher.”

At the meeting held with the participation of sector representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Slovenia and Turkey, the results of the project were evaluated.
Speaking at the event, EU Presidency Expert Çağla Serim said that Turkey ranks 8th in the world and 3rd among EU countries with 23.2 million tonnes of milk production. Serim explained, “In our country, 10.05 million tonnes of cow’s milk was transferred to the industry in 2021 and processed into packaged dairy products. In our country, there are 2,496 milk processing facilities and 6,116 milk collection centres approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.”

The Chairperson of SETBİR Board of Directors, İsa Coşkun, announced that 233 thousand tonnes of milk and dairy products were exported and added, “487 million dollars have been provided in return. Of course, this figure is not enough for a large country like Turkiye. One of our goals is to boost this figure even higher.”
Noting that there are nearly 30 dairy enterprises in the country with export permits to the European Union, 8 to Russia and nearly 60 to China, Coşkun concluded, “A significant progress has been achieved in raw milk quality in 20 years. Is it enough? Not. Our only goal is to produce milk in EU standards.”
