“Southeastern Anatolia’s cereal exports hit a record!”

The cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products sector in the Southeastern Anatolia region displayed a remarkable performance in the first quarter of the year.

Cereal exports in the Southeastern Anatolia region reached a record level with a significant spike. Celal Kadooğlu, Head of the Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters Association, which carries out the export of basic food products of the region, announced that exports soared by 10 per cent in the first three months of the year to 836.5 million dollars.

Kadooğlu also stated that pasta exports took the lead in the region, followed by wheat flour, sunflower seed oil and sweet biscuits and wafers.

The hike especially in sweet biscuits and wafers reached 35 per cent and 45 per cent in cocoa products. The rate of increase in exports of non-cocoa sugar and sugar products was recorded as approximately 120 per cent.

Pointing out that the companies in Southeastern Anatolia sell an average of 100 million dollars of food products to Iraq per month, Kadooğlu said, “Iraq’s share in Türkiye’s total cereal exports of 3.1 billion dollars is 583 million dollars.”
