Organised for the second time this year by the Licensed Warehouse Companies Association (LİDAŞDER), ‘Licensed Warehousing in Türkiye and the World, Grain Markets Congress’ was held in Antalya between 16-19 January.

In his opening speech, Serdar Genç, Chairman of the Licensed Warehouse Companies Association (LİDAŞDER), said, “Proudly stating that the positive feedback from you at the first congress we organised in 2022 was a source of motivation for our second congress. While we hosted 400 people in our first congress, now we are here today with around 700 participants.‘’
Serdar Genç, Chairman of the Licensed Warehouse Companies Association (LİDAŞDER), announced that Türkiye is the country that best implements the licensed warehousing system in the world.
Indicating that the most important project carried out in the agricultural sector in recent years is licensed warehousing, Genç added, “Two years ago, I stated from this rostrum that licences were obtained for 8.9 million tonnes. Today, we see that it has reached a capacity of 12.2 million tonnes. Hopefully, we estimate that the licensed warehouse capacity will reach 20 million tonnes in 2030.‘’

Underlining that licensed warehousing has become one of Türkiye’s most important sectors providing 50 billion TL investment, employment for 2,000 people and security of supply in strategic products, LİDAŞDER President Serdar Genç continued his speech as follows:
‘’The support of our State is very important in the development of the licensed warehousing system. In this sense, it was great that income and corporate tax, VAT and withholding tax exemptions were extended until the end of 2028, and the warehouse rent support given to our farmers was fixed at 75 percent of the rental fee determined by the Ministry of Trade.”
“On the other hand, the monthly payment of warehouse rental fees for TMO products in licensed warehouses has breathed life into our sector and contributed to its growth. As a sector, we are in favour of our farmers earning more in our country. For this reason, we want our farmers not to sell their products at low prices during the intensive harvest period. Deliver them to the licensed warehouse. When the market prices rise, sell them at a better price,” Genç concluded…
