Bolu’s famous water buffalo cream was registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office and received a geographical indication.
Bolu (a northwestern province in Turkey) Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Türker Ateş said, “Afyon’s cream is famous. Bolu’s buffalo cream is also famous. From now on, we will say that our buffalo cream is famous too. We are talking about a registered product in this geography.”
With the initiatives of the Bolu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a patent application was filed for buffalo cream in Bolu, 65 percent of which is covered with forests and where buffaloes graze on pastures.
The famous buffalo cream of Bolu, whose application period has been completed, was registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office and received a geographical indication.
Previously, Bolu Kıbrıscık rice, Bolu cutie, Bolu potato bread and Bolu hazelnut candy have been also registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. Thus, the number of products with completed geographical indication registration in Bolu increased to 5.
