While the harvest of saffron, which is identified with Safranbolu district of Western Black Sea province of Karabük, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and called ‘the most expensive spice in the world’, has ended, the new product will be sold at 450 thousand TL.
The harvest of saffron, which has a history of 3,500 years in Safranbolu, used to be traded in Western Anatolia during the Byzantine period and maintained its importance during the Ottoman period, has ended.
In addition to being used in many areas such as paint, food, cosmetics, medicine and food; the saffron plant, which has many effects such as cell renewal, strengthening memory, asthma and respiratory diseases, digestion and gum strengthening, was registered by the European Union Commission last year.
