Saffet Kalyoncu: We export to 132 countries from the Eastern Black Sea region

Saffet Kalyoncu, Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), in his written statement, reported that in the first half of the year covering the January-June period of 2024 from Trabzon, Rize, Artvin and Gümüşhane provinces, the region’s exports amounted to 793 million 472 thousand 839 dollars.

Stating that there was a 4 percent increase in exports compared to the previous year, Kalyoncu said, “In the first 6 months of 2024, exports made from our region; 612 million 571 thousand 550 dollars from Trabzon province, 103 million 557 thousand 591 dollars from Rize province, 44 million 586 thousand 795 dollars from Artvin province and 32 million 756 thousand 903 dollars from Gümüşhane province.”

“In the first 6 months of 2024, the sectors with the highest exports from Trabzon, Rize, Artvin and Gümüşhane provinces of our Eastern Black Sea Region;

  • Hazelnut with 373 million 168 thousand 519 dollars,
  • 111 million 856 thousand 62 dollars with Aquaculture and Livestock Products,
  • 97 million 975 thousand 655 dollars with Fresh Fruits and Vegetables,
  • Mining and Metals with 83 million 781 thousand 625 dollars,” Kalyoncu noted.

Pointing out that exports were made to 132 different countries in the January-June period of 2024 from Eastern Black Sea Region, Kalyoncu added, “The top 5 countries with the highest exports were; Russian Federation, Italy, Georgia, Germany and the People’s Republic of China, respectively. Among these countries, exports to Italy increased by 16 per cent, exports to Georgia increased by 12 per cent and exports to the People’s Republic of China increased by 16 per cent, while exports to the Russian Federation decreased by 25 per cent and exports to Germany decreased by 3 per cent.”
