The highest fresh fruit and vegetable exports are to Russia, Romania and Germany…
Ferhat Gürüz, Chairman of the Board of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, announced that Turkiye’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports reached the level of 1.45 billion dollars in the first half of 2022.
Evaluating the performance of the Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable sector in the first half of the year according to product groups and countries, Ferhat Gürüz said, “In this period, we exported tomatoes worth 247.9 million dollars with a surge of 15 percent, tangerines worth 168.7 million dollars with a surge of 19 percent and lemons worth 148.8 million dollars with a surge of 5 percent.”
Gürüz explained, “The biggest markets in our fresh fruit and vegetable exports in the first half of the year were Russia, Romania and Germany. We exported 454.9 million dollars to Russia, 126.8 million dollars to Romania and 124.7 million dollars to Germany. Israel, Croatia and Azerbaijan-Nakhichevan were among the countries where we achieved the strongest increases in export volume in the said period. We exported 32.1 million dollars to Israel with an increase of 383 percent, 12.7 million dollars to Croatia with an increase of 96 percent, and 10.5 million dollars to Azerbaijan-Nakhchivan with an increase of 52 percent.”
Mersin region is at the top of fresh fruit and vegetable exports…
Underlining that the efficiency of the provinces located in the region of responsibility of the Mediterranean Exporters’ Association (AKİB) in the country’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports boosted in the first half of 2022, Gürüz added, “Mersin is among our provinces that export the most fresh fruit and vegetables between January and June and ranked first. Mersin province, which achieved a 15 percent increase in the first half of the year, realized an export of 361.4 million dollars. Hatay province reached an export value of 227.2 million dollars with an increase of 1 percent and Adana province reached 69 million dollars with an increase of 27 percent.”
