In the January-December period of 2024; hazelnut exports from Black Sea’s province of Trabzon reached 95 thousand 870 tonnes and 836 million 599 thousand dollars of foreign currency inflow was obtained in return. When these export realisations were compared with the same period of the previous year, an increase of 17 percent in quantity and 58 percent in value was achieved.

Hazelnut exports from Trabzon to 57 different countries…
Sebahattin Arslantürk, Vice President of the Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), who made evaluations on the subject, stated that exports were made to 57 different countries from Trabzon region in the 12-month period and that the top 5 countries to which the most exports were made were Italy, Germany, People’s Republic of China, France and Poland respectively.
Hazelnut export prices reached 9 dollars from 7 dollars…
Arslantürk pointed out that one-third of the hazelnut export season, which started in September, has been left behind; “With the export of hazelnuts from Trabzon, foreign currency inflow of 328 million 810 thousand dollars equivalent to 36 thousand 779 tonnes was provided to our city in the first four months. In the exports made; compared to the same period of the previous year, there was a historical increase of 53 percent in quantity and 98 percent in value. The high rate of increase is very pleasing, but another issue that makes us happy is that compared to the same period of the last season, the unit price of hazelnut exports from our city has reached 9 from 7 dollars and a 30 percent price hike per kilogram has been achieved,” he said.

Trabzon province alone accounts for a third of hazelnut exports…
Reminding that 32 percent of the total hazelnut exports in the 12-month period were carried out by exporters from Trabzon alone and Trabzon was the province with the highest exports in the hazelnut sector in 2024 as in every year, he added, “We wholeheartedly congratulate our hazelnut exporters and producers who made our city experience this pride and almost doubled the foreign currency they brought to our country in the first 4 months of the hazelnut season compared to last year by achieving great success.”
