NEJDAT SİN: EXPORTS OF FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLES SEE 14 PERCENT HIKE

Mediterranean Exporters’ Associations (AKİB) Coordinator Chairman and Mediterranean Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters’ Association Chairman of the Board Nejdat Sin stated that Turkey, which has a high quality, safe and rich crop variety in fresh fruits and vegetables, continues to rise in global markets.

Indicating that they realized an export of 148.3 million dollars by increasing 14 percent Nejdat Sin said, “While we continue to strengthen in the Commonwealth of Independent States countries, which are the traditional markets for our fresh fruit and vegetable exports, we have turned our route to the European Union and Far East countries in terms of market diversity. While we achieved an 18-fold surge in the Greek market in August, Libya and Israel were the other countries where we achieved the highest increases in export volume.”

56 percent of exports consisted of grapes, peaches and tomatoes…

Noting that the fresh fruit and vegetable sector evaluated 247 thousand 155 tonnes of products in export markets in August, Nejdat Sin added, “In August, 56 percent of our sector’s exports consisted of grapes, peaches and tomatoes. In the products we export the most, grapes ranked first with a 21 percent increase and a value of 36 million dollars, peach with a decrease of 4 percent and a value of 26.1 million dollars and tomatoes with an increase of 85 percent and a value of 20.2 million dollars. In the said period, we achieved the highest increases in export volume in potatoes, onions, lemons, oranges and tomatoes.”
