CLOSE MONITORING OF RED MEAT PRICES…
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, through the Meat and Milk Board (ESK) and the General Directorate of Livestock, took action to prevent speculative movements in the red meat market before Ramadan. The institution intervenes in price fluctuations by taking various regulatory measures to ensure market stability.

Mustafa Kayhan, General Director of ESK, stated that the institution carries out the duty of market regulation and said, “We observe the costs of the producer and care about the purchasing power of the consumer. We are taking the necessary steps to ensure that acceptable price policies prevail.”
Highlighting that the price fluctuations experienced in recent weeks are largely speculative and Kayhan explained, “We see that some people create unnecessary expectations on the market. For this reason, producers do not slaughter their animals, supply is restricted, but demand continues. As a result, there are fluctuations in prices.”
‘THERE IS NO SUPPLY PROBLEM IN THE MARKET’
Emphasising that the amount of supply in the market is meticulously monitored, Kayhan added, “We have provided butchery and carcass supply before Ramadan. There is no supply shortage in the market at the moment, the fluctuation experienced is entirely due to speculative movements.”
Kayhan noted that they are against unfair gains and concluded, “We will not allow attempts that disrupt the competitive environment. I would like to remind that the authority to import live animals was given to ESK and this is a compulsory measure to ensure market stability.”
