A meeting was held in the most milk-producing province of Izmir to evaluate the developments in the raw milk sector and to exchange views with sector representatives. The meeting, hosted by Izmir Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, was chaired by Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mustafa Şahin.

During the meeting, raw milk regulation practices carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the current situation of the sector were discussed in detail. Developments in the sector, problems faced by producers and solutions to these problems were reviewed. In addition, evaluations were made on raising quality standards in raw milk production, producer supports and sustainable production.
Sector Representatives Shared Their Views…
Ahmet Ertürk, Head of the Central Union of Livestock Cooperatives of Türkiye and representatives of producer organisations operating in the field of raw milk production also attended the meeting. Participants shared their views on price policies in the raw milk sector, cost factors, producer rights and healthy milk for consumers.

Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mustafa Şahin emphasised the importance of the meeting and said, “The raw milk sector is of great importance for the sustainability of animal husbandry. We will continue to organise such meetings in order to produce solutions by listening directly to the problems faced by our producers and to contribute to the development of the sector.”
Suggested Solutions Discussed…
Among the prominent issues at the meeting were raw milk price stability, feed costs, production efficiency and government supports. The producers evaluated the applicability of the current regulations in the field and presented their solution suggestions for the problems experienced in the sector.
The meeting, which is of great importance in terms of determining the steps to be taken to strengthen the raw milk sector in Izmir, is expected to contribute to the development of new projects for the sector in the future…
