The Preparatory Workshop for the 4th Agriculture and Forestry Council to be convened by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in April was held with the participation of Minister İbrahim Yumaklı.
The theme of the Shura; ‘Century of Türkiye is the Century of Abundance’
In his speech, Yumaklı stated that they will organise the Council with the theme ‘Türkiye’s Century is the Century of Abundance’ and reiterated that Türkiye will rank first in Europe and ninth in the world with an agricultural output of 68.5 billion dollars in 2023.

Yumaklı also underlined that they have shaped the agriculture, forestry and water sector around 5 main axes such as ‘sustainability, efficiency, quality, registration and investment in the sector’ in Türkiye’s Century.
Reminding that planned production has been started as of last year, Yumaklı explained that with the new support model, additional support was provided for young and female entrepreneurs to take more place in the sector.
‘We need to produce more for food supply security’
Pointing out that the new animal husbandry road map has been determined, Minister Yumaklı continued as follows:
“Our aim here is to end imports, to ensure that our producers have production materials at affordable costs, and to ensure that our consumers have access to these products at affordable prices. Bringing unprocessed agricultural lands into the economy was a very important title. The second year is coming to an end as of September. Hopefully, we will see the positive results of this implementation. Significant changes were made in the legislation to ensure that all areas of production receive support. The agricultural census process has started. We have made important arrangements to reach healthy and reliable food. We have transparently published counterfeit and adulterated products and products that endanger health instantly with the name of the company and product.”

Indicating that they will feel the effects of global warming more while making this production, Yumaklı said, “We need to think that many reasons that will suppress food production on the one hand and cause an increase in consumption on the other hand have emerged and will affect us. We will face many near and distant risks and the different tests and challenges they bring, and we have to create an agriculture and forestry sector that is resilient against all these.”
Yumaklı added that the vision of the council is shaped under 5 main headings and said that these are ‘science-based approach’, ‘participation and cooperation’, ‘sustainability’, ‘innovation’ and ‘future-oriented perspective’.
Yumaklı noted that they have formed working groups under 16 thematic headings within the scope of the Shura and made the following evaluations:
“From crop production to animal production, from water management to aquaculture production, from food to agriculture-industry integration, from forestry to biodiversity, from logistics to finance, from marketing to technology, we have gathered all topics within these groups. We have also created workshops. These side events will give us different perspectives in practice. We know that agriculture is no longer just agriculture. Based on this, topics such as agricultural diplomacy and economy will also be included in the workshops.”
