Celal Kadooğlu, Chair of the Southeastern Anatolia Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association, reported that their exports in the first 5 months of the year soared by 9.2 percent compared to the same period last year and reached 1.4 billion dollars.
In his written statement, Kadooğlu said that they continue to work to ramp up the export figures in the region.
Pointing out that the export success of the sector is gradually increasing, Kadooğlu noted the following:
“The exports of our region rose by 9.2 percent in the first 5 months compared to the previous year and approached 1.4 billion dollars. Last year, our region exported 1 billion 274 million 90 thousand dollars in this period. Pasta accounts for 31.6 percent of our regional exports and 234 million dollars of foreign currency was obtained from pasta in the first 5 months. Our region makes 51.5 percent of its exports to the Middle East and 24.1 percent to African countries.”
Kadooğlu also emphasised that exports to Iraq, which is the most recipient country of the region’s exports, jumped by 16.2 percent in the first 5 months of the year compared to last year…
