“LET’S MOVE TOGETHER FOR CLIMATE”

Istanbul Technical University Lecturer and Chairwoman of Sustainable Production and Consumption Association (SÜT-D) Professor Dr. Filiz Karaosmanoğlu made a statement for the 4th of July, International Cooperative Day.

Pointing out the important position of the cooperatives in the economy, Dr. Karaosmanoğlu said that this year, the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) demonstrated the importance of power of the cooperatives locally to combat climate change.

Expressing that the theme of “Let’s Move for Climate Together” has been selected, Dr. Karaosmanoğlu noted, “ICA, as one of the world’s oldest civil society organizations established in 1895. Turkish National Cooperatives Association, set up in 1991, also takes place within ICA of which has 312 members from 109 countries.”

Dr. Karaosmanoğlu added, “The reduction of the energy carbon footprint in energy cooperatives and in production of agriculture, forestry, food and health cooperatives should be prioritized. Cooperatives that will reduce the carbon footprint with sustainable production should also be effective to say stop to global warming and also to create widespread information.”

“As the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association, we celebrate the International Cooperative Day and we wish our cooperatives blessings and invite them to become stakeholders in our country’s fight against climate change,” Dr. Karaosmanoğlu concluded…
