AHMET GULDAL: TURKISH GRAIN BOARD HAS PURCHASED 8.7 MILLION TONNES OF GRAIN SO FAR

Ahmet Güldal, General Manager of the Turkish Grain Board (TMO), stated that they have carried out an intensive purchasing campaign up to now.

Güldal, who visited the purchasing points of TMO in Yozgat and Yerköy regions, told reporters that there was a bountiful grain season and that they expected a wheat yield of over 21 million tonnes and a barley yield of over 8.5 million tonnes and yet there is a possibility of a yield above this.

Güldal announced that 80 percent of the harvest has been completed throughout Türkiye and continues in high areas and said, “We are having a bountiful crop year. TMO is conducting an intensive purchase campaign. We have purchased 8.7 million tonnes so far. Between 150-200 thousand tonnes of crops come to TMO daily and we can buy them. The financial equivalent of this is 1 billion 600 million liras per day. We pay our producers their prices within 30 days.”

Pointing out that the capacity to receive 10 million tonnes of products is ready with open fields, TMO warehouses and leased licensed warehouses, Güldal added, “If it comes over 10 million tonnes, we have measures for it. TMO does not have any shortage or deficiency in terms of warehouses, personnel, price and finance. We always say that all crops, wheat, barley, those that meet our quality criteria will be open until the last product arrives and we will continue to purchase.”
