JAK ESKINAZI: TURKISH FOOD INDUSTRY IS GROWING IN THE USA MARKET

The Turkish food industry, which realized an export of over 1 billion dollars for the first time in 2021 to the USA, the world’s largest food importer and aims to export 2 billion dollars in 4 years, participated in the New York Summer Fancy Food Show Fair, the largest food exhibition in the USA, with 30 companies. .

The Summer Fancy Food fair, which took place in New York on 12-14 June 2022, opened its doors for the 68th time this year.

The Turkish food industry is growing in the US market; More meetings were held than expected

Aegean Exporters’ Associations Coordinator Chair Jak Eskinazi said that they have been successfully organizing the Turkish National Participation Organization of the New York Summer Fancy Food Show Fair for 25 years.

Eskinazi said, “The food imports of the USA grew in 2021 and reached 175 billion dollars. Our food industry exported over 1 billion dollars for the first time in 2021. In the next 4 years, we will increase this figure to 2 billion dollars. As Turkiye, we took part in the fair with our 30 companies in an area of ​​473 m2. There were around 2,400 participants in total. There were stands of 21 countries. The fair could not be held for two years due to the pandemic and after these two years, it was busy and more than expected meetings were held.”

Eskinazi reminded that since 2019, with the support of the Ministry of Trade, they have been carrying out the TURQUALITY Project, in which Turkish food products are promoted in the USA with 6 Food Exporters’ Associations.

“Thanks to our TURQUALITY Project, we brought Turkish cuisine to the international arena for the first time in terms of education. We attach great importance to our project, which will increase the influence of Turkish cuisine abroad, especially in the USA, the world’s largest food importer, and develop our country in terms of gastronomic tourism and we have been working on it meticulously for 4 years. As part of our project, Turkish Tastes Reference Cookbook, which was created in partnership with the University of Las Vegas, was introduced,” Eskinazi added…
