Piraziz Fisheries Cooperative President of Giresun, Hamdi Arslan, said that even though the anchovy is like sand in the sea, it will end with this type of fishing.

Arslan stated that the ban on anchovy hunting in our country is not enough.

Piraziz (a district of Giresun province) Fisheries Cooperative President Hamdi Arslan noted that as a result of the abundant bonito hunt, they turned to anchovy, but they could not find what they expected from anchovy.

“Our season started with bonito fishing. Bonito fishing took place in September and October. There was hunting from the west to the east of the Black Sea, but considering the situation of the bonito fish in the sea, we thought that hunting would continue until the end of December,” Arslan explained.

“We especially waited for the return of the fish shoals moving from west to east, but unfortunately they did not come back. Of course, big boats started anchovy hunting when the bonito disappeared. Although it was November, anchovies did not come,” Arslan added.
