Reminding that 2 years have passed since they took office in the Aegean Aquaculture and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, Bedri Girit underlined that they aimed to ramp up exports with the projects they carried out in the two-year period.
Bedri Girit, Chair of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, also noted that they raised the awareness and export of Turkish food products in the US market with the TURQUALITY Project named Turkish Tastes and that they received approval from the Ministry of Trade for the ‘Turkish Seafood’ Turquality project as the Aegean, Istanbul and Mediterranean unions in the fishery sector a week ago and started working.
“In 2023, our exports fell by 14 percent”
Pointing out that in 2023, Türkiye’s exports of fisheries and animal products declined by 14 percent, Girit said, “Our aquaculture sector boosted its exports by 3 percent to 1 billion 680 million dollars. Our poultry sector suffered a 24 percent blood loss in exports due to bird flu and the competition of two Brazilian companies, and exports decreased from 1 billion 185 million dollars to 917 million dollars.”
“As to egg exports, our breeding egg exporters recovered exports and brought 415 million dollars of foreign currency to our country with a spike of 4 percent,” he added…
