Agricultural Production Evaluation from Aydın Commodity Exchange: 2024 Year Reviewed
Aegean’s province of Aydın’s Commodity Exchange Chairman Fevzi Çondur evaluated the agricultural production process in 2024 and made statements about the problems and solutions in the sector. Çondur stated that the agricultural drought and high temperatures experienced this year, especially the rise in agricultural input inflation, figs returned due to aflatoxin and the problems of imitation and adulteration in the olive oil sector, negatively affected Aydın region’s agriculture.

Aydın Commodity Exchange Chairman Fevzi Çondur indicated that dried figs, one of the most important agricultural export products of Aydın province, faced serious problems caused by aflatoxin in 2024. “This situation negatively affects the perception of Turkish figs in the international market and causes heavy costs for exporters,” Çondur said.

Pointing out that the increasing problem of counterfeiting and adulteration in the olive oil sector negatively affects both producers and consumers, Çondur also warned that this problem not only damages the labour of producers but also damages Türkiye’s reputation on olive oil.

At this point, it is critical that decision-makers create inclusive support policies, reduce costs and tighten inspections.”
