Ferhat Gürüz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, announced that Türkiye exported 971.2 million dollars worth of fresh fruit and vegetables between January and March 2025.

‘The most demanded products; tangerine, tomato, lemon, pepper and pomegranate’
Evaluating the export performance of the Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable sector according to product groups in the first quarter of the year, Ferhat Gürüz said that the most demanded products are tangerine, tomato, lemon, pepper and pomegranate. “Between January and March 2025, our sector reached 235.4 million dollars in tangerine, 161.5 million dollars in tomato, 132.5 million dollars in lemon, 115.7 million dollars in pepper and 75.9 million dollars in pomegranate. In the said period, the product groups in which we achieved a significant spike in export volume were potatoes, cucumber and lemon. Quince showed a 44 percent spike in value,” Gürüz said.
‘The countries we export the most are Russia, Iraq and Romania’
Stating that Türkiye’s main export markets in fresh fruit and vegetables are the Commonwealth of Independent States, the European Union and the Middle East countries, Gürüz said the following while evaluating the first quarter of the year sector exports by countries: “Russia, Iraq and Romania took the first three places in the list of countries to which we exported the most fresh fruit and vegetables in the January-March period of 2025. We exported 215.2 million dollars to Russia, 139.7 million dollars to Iraq and 105.5 million dollars to Romania. In the list of countries where we achieved the highest increases in export volume in the said period, Azerbaijan with an increase of 30 percent and a value of 11.3 million dollars, Iraq with an increase of 29 percent and a value of 139.7 million dollars, the Netherlands with an increase of 27 percent and a value of 22.8 million dollars. Ukraine, Germany, Moldova and Poland were the other markets where we achieved significant increases.”

‘We introduced our products at fairs in Brazil and Canada’
Indicating that the activities of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, which carries out the coordination and secretariat services of the sector, to enhance the market diversity extended to the American continent, Gürüz reported that they participated in prestigious fairs in Brazil and Canada.
“At the Sao Paulo Fruit Attraction Fair held in Brazil between 25-27 March, we held very productive negotiations in order to catch the market trends in the Southern Hemisphere. We introduced our products at the CPMA Conference and Trade Show Fair held in Canada between 8-10 April. At this fair in Montreal, the representatives of 12 participating companies within the scope of the Development of International Competitiveness Project for Fresh Fruits, Vegetables and Citrus Clusters initiated by our Association carried out their first overseas activities. Our members obtained information about the Canadian market, made examinations and held negotiations to provide export connections. I believe that we will see the positive reflections of these activities in the coming months,” Gürüz added…
