EXPORT OF CEREAL, PULSE AND OIL SEED SECTOR HAS A GOOD START IN FIRST QUARTER…

Cereals, pulses and oil seeds sector, in the first three months of 2021, raised its total exports to 2 billion dollars with a rise of 12 percent, while exports of the Aegean Region increased to 141 million dollars with a rise of 6 percent.

Chairman of the Aegean Cereals Pulses Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association Mustafa Terci said that they moved their exports from 443 million dollars in 2019 to 505 million dollars in 2020 with an increase of 14 percent.

Terci said, “Despite the pandemic last year, we exceeded our export target of 500 million dollars. We started 2021 with exports worth 39 million dollars in January and 53 million dollars with an increase of 64 percent in February, registering a significant acceleration. We have 49 million dollars worth of exports in March. In the first quarter of 2021, we managed to boost our exports by 6 percent in the January-March period, moving it to 141 million dollars.”

“In the last year, the cereals, pulses and oilseeds sector raised its exports to 514 million dollars with a 7 percent export increase rate. One of our export items that surged the most in this period was cereals with a rise of 74 percent. Food preparations are 60 percent, pulp and animal feeds 61 percent, confectionery products 15 percent, vegetable oils 12 percent, with the highest increase in exports,” Terci added.

The highest increase in exports was to Syria, Hong Kong and Bangladesh…

“The top 5 sub-sectors with the highest exports are vegetable oils with 75 million dollars, meal and animal feeds with 14 million dollars, oil seeds with 11 million dollars, food preparations with 8 million dollars and chocolate confectionery products with 7 million dollars,” Terci concluded.
