ECOLOGICAL AGRICULTURE PROJECT FROM THE MINISTRY AND FAO…

The ecological agriculture project, which is carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) with a budget of 7.2 million dollars, was implemented in Türkiye’s northwestern province of Bolu, which was determined as a pilot region.

FAO, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, implemented the ‘Development of Agroecological (Ecological Agriculture) Management System by Promoting Ecosystem-Oriented Food Production’ project in the pilot province of Bolu. Bolu Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Zekeriya Ar, provincial directorate employees, FAO Agriculture Expert Fazıl Düşünceli, Director of Field Crops Agricultural Research Institute Dr. Hümeyra Yaman and experts from the institute took part in the meeting. At the meeting, the objectives and expected results of the project were presented by the FAO team and evaluation and consultation were carried out on the applications and demonstrations to be carried out.

It was stated that the project aims to boost producer capacities for healthy food production with environmentally sensitive ecological agricultural methods in an area of approximately 50 thousand decares and to contribute to the safe supply of food needs. The demonstrations to be established within the scope of the project and the crops and varieties to be planted were determined in line with the results of the analyses of the soil samples taken as a result of the practical training on taking soil samples given by the FAO team led by Professor Dr. Erhan Akça and the committee consisting of experts from the ministry in September…
