TURKIYE IS THE MOST QUINCE EXPORTER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!

According to the information compiled by the Antaolian Agency (AA) correspondent from the data of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, quince planted areas worldwide increased by 13.6% in 5 years across Türkiye and reached 93 thousand 699 hectares in the 2019-2020 period.

While China, which has a 55.2 percent share of the quince planted areas in the world, ranks first, Iran ranks second with 7.7 percent and Türkiye ranks third with 7.6 percent.

89 percent of the world’s quince export is made by 5 countries consisting of Türkiye, Netherlands, Spain, Greece and Austria. Being the world’s largest quince exporter, Türkiye has a 41.4 percent share in this field.

Türkiye, which is the leader in world quince production and export, exported 16 thousand 333 tonnes of quince with a value of 13 million dollars in the 2019-2020 season.

Ranking second after Türkiye in the world’s quince export with a share of 24 percent, the Netherlands exports quince, which it imports from various countries, including Türkiye, even though it does not produce, by packaging and using marketing channels effectively. Austria, which has a 6.2 percent share of world quince exports in 2019, is following the same path. Russia ranks first in world quince imports with a 19 percent share.

In the 2019-2020 season in Türkiye, quince planted areas were 71 thousand decares and the average quince yield was 2 tonnes 542 kilograms per decare. 67 percent of the quince planted areas are in 6 provinces consisting of Sakarya, Denizli, Bursa, Isparta, Kahramanmaraş and Çanakkale…
