EBRU BAYBARA DEMIR BRINGS THE NOBEL GASTRONOMY TO TURKIYE!

Turkish chef Ebru Baybara Demir received the Basque Culinary World Prize 2023 award, which is called the ‘Nobel of the gastronomy world’, at a ceremony held in Spain. Demir was awarded for her significant contributions to gastronomy in the fields of cultural integration, social development and biodiversity through her expertise in the kitchen, while Nicole Pisani and Heidi Bjerkan were awarded honourable mentions for their inspiring suggestions on sustainability and gastronomy education.

The Basque Culinary World Prize (BCWP) is a special global prize awarded by the Basque Government as part of the comprehensive strategy of the Euskadi-Bask Country and the Basque Culinary Centre, a leading academic institution in the field of gastronomy. Unlike its peers, the award focuses on the work of chefs leading transformative initiatives in the fields of innovation, technology, education, environment, health, food industry, social and economic development, and recognises achievements in this field.
