In citrus products, which are natural vitamin C storehouse, the citrus yield of the Aegean Region in 2024 was determined as 682 thousand 225 tonnes. While the citrus yield decreased by 11 percent, the Aegean Region Pomegranate Yield, which was made for the first time this year, was predicted as 135 thousand tonnes.
According to the Aegean Region Citrus Yield Estimation Report made by the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association in cooperation with the Aegean Agricultural Research Institute; 286 thousand 403 tonnes of orange yield is expected in the Aegean Region. Tangerine yield decreased by 12.3 percent from 299 thousand tonnes to 262 thousand tonnes, while lemon yield decreased by 6.6 percent from 136 thousand tonnes to 127.5 thousand tonnes. On the other hand, the grapefruit yield suffered a 10 percent loss and was predicted to be 6 thousand 127 tonnes.
Hayrettin Uçak, Head of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, reported that the citrus yield in the Aegean Region is above the average of the last 10 years, although it is behind the 2023 yield and that the quality of the products is suitable for export.
