DAVUT ER: TURKISH OLIVE OIL APPRECIATES BY 16 PERCENT IN DOLLAR TERMS

The average export price of Turkish olive oil has increased during the pandemic process. In the first half of the 2020/21 season, the average export price of Turkish olive oil rose by 16 percent on dollar basis, from 2,397 dollars to 2,786 dollars.

Davut Er, Chairperson of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association (EZZİB), said that Turkish olive oil was exported with a value added of 390 dollars per tonne.

Er said, “In olive oil, defined as golden liquid, the first half of the 2020/21 olive oil export season, which started on November 1, 2020, has passed. While Turkey exported 22 thousand 719 tonnes of olive oil between 1 November 2020 and 30 April 2021, it brought 63 million 286 thousand dollars in foreign currency to our country.”

“On the other hand, the table olive exports, in which the seven-month period remained behind, 55 thousand 50 tonnes equivalent to 95 million 817 thousand dollars. While 74 million dollars part of table olive exports was black olive exports, 21.8 million dollars foreign exchange income was obtained from green olive exports,” Er added…
