Turkey’s agriculture sector registered a 7.5% year-on-year growth in the first quarter of 2021 for the tenth quarter in a row, the country’s agriculture and forestry minister said Monday.
If our agricultural growth rate continues in a similar trend, it will beat the 2020 figure, Bekir Pakdemirli said in a statement.
Stressing that the last year’s growth was the highest over the last three years, he said the agricultural sector developed for 15 years between 2003 and 2020, marking a 2.99% annual average growth of agriculture in Turkey over the same period.
Turkey’s agriculture output posted a 4.8% growth year-on-year in 2020.
The country’s agricultural product exports reached $20.7 billion in 2020 with a $5.5 billion surplus, Pakdemirli said.
