CONTRACT FARMING MODEL IN GRAIN PRODUCTION BY TÜRKŞEKER…

General Manager of Turkey Sugar Factories Inc. (TÜRKŞEKER) Mücahit Alkan introduced the ‘contract farming’ model in Bursa to be implemented in grain production.

Meeting with the executives of the cooperative, public and agriculture-related sectors at Sinan Pasha Complex in Yenişehir region, Alkan stated that they will be together with farmers on ‘contract farming’ basis.

Alkan said, “After President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s instructions, we will apply the agricultural model of contract farming in sugar beet, been continued for a hundred years, to grains, sunflowers and legumes.”

Noting that they accelerated this process in the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic, Alkan added:

“We are explaining this system by traveling from region to region in many places in Anatolia. The essence of the system is that we aim to provide both the best quality and the most affordable price to our citizens, as well as our farmers will earn more, they will not be victims, our producers, industrialists will earn more. Our greatest sensitivity in the process is that, unfortunately, we have a target to eliminate some people who are speculating the market and to increase the production of this country together.”

Expressing that they have established such a system, if problems arise, they will be removed in the process from the field to the shelf, Alkan emphasized, “We believe that this system will bring stability to the sector in 1-2 years and companies that do this work in the market will start to do business with this model put forward by TÜRKŞEKER.”

Indicating that this established control mechanism will lead the designed model, Alkan said, “We believe that our model will make a great contribution to Turkish farmers.”
