Bedri Girit, Chairman of the Aegean Aquaculture and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, announced that Türkiye aims to export 200 million dollars in table eggs and 300 million dollars in breeding eggs by the end of the year.

Türkiye aims to boost its potential in exports of egg products while ranking among the top 10 in the world.
Girit also stated that Türkiye had the potential to catch the second place after the Netherlands in exports in the past years.
Emphasising that approximately 22 billion eggs are produced in the country, Girit said that Türkiye is among the top 10 in the world ranking and approximately 4 billion of them are exported. Pointing out that Türkiye has a significant potential in table and breeding eggs, Girit said, “Egg products are also exported. The export of egg products is not yet at the desired level, it is low. In 2025, we aim to export 200 million dollars of table eggs and 300 million dollars of breeding eggs. Our country is one of the important actors of the world in eggs.”
Highlighting that the dynamics of the domestic market and exports are very different, Girit noted that all kinds of policies can be implemented in the domestic market, but the international arena will not tolerate them.

Describing the fund cut in eggs as ‘polite prohibition’, Girit explained, “It means the introduction of a fund of 30 thousand dollars in the container. If an egg layer earns 30 thousand dollars in a container, be sure that his walk will change. I see this fund business as a modern prohibition. In Türkiye, 220 eggs are consumed per person. If you divide it by 12, it makes 18 eggs per month. If you put the price increase of 18 eggs consumed during Ramadan on one side of the scale and if you put what you lose in exports on the other side, you can see the difference very easily. I think it is wrong to lose the markets entered by years of labour with short-term perspectives.”
