“We aim to export 100 million dollars worth of fresh fruit, vegetables and processed produce to Canada”

Türkiye aims to export 100 million dollars worth of fresh fruit, vegetables and processed produce to Canada…

Turkish exporters of fresh fruit, vegetables and processed produce have identified Canada—which imports 23 billion dollars worth of fresh fruit, vegetables and processed produce annually—as a target market with the goal of exporting 100 million dollars worth of Turkish delicacies.

Eight companies participating in the URGE Project, led by the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, undertook marketing activities targeting Canada between 23 and 26 March 2026.

Hayrettin Uçak, Chair of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, who noted that Canada imported 10 billion dollars’ worth of fresh fruit and vegetables and 13.44 billion dollars’ worth of processed fruit and vegetable products in 2025, shared during the first day of the delegation programme held in Toronto that shared that they had carried out market visits and field research.

“We are targeting 100 million dollars in exports”

Uçak, who noted that the Turkish delegation had visited chain supermarkets such as Loblaws and Costco, said: “Our exporters had the opportunity to establish contact with these retailers. We aim to ramp up our exports of fresh fruit and vegetables and processed fruit and vegetable products to Canada, currently at 60 million dollars in 2025, to 100 million dollars.”

Reporting that Turkish companies held bilateral business meetings with Canadian importers on the second day of the Canada programme, he noted, “Eighteen Canadian import firms participated in the bilateral business meetings, which were attended by our Consul General in Toronto, Can Yoldaş and our Trade Attaché, Merve Orhan. Approximately 70 meetings were held. The B2B event, which featured positive discussions, concluded successfully.”

“On the second day of the delegation’s visit, the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Market was visited. Two separate firms that were unable to attend the bilateral business meetings but wished to meet with our delegation were also visited. The final visit of the second day was to the Ontario office of the Metro supermarket chain,” he added…
