HAYRETTİN UÇAK: TURKEY MOVES TO EXPORT 100 MILLION DOLLARS IN DRIED TOMATOES

In dried tomatoes, one of the most important flavours of the Mediterranean cuisine, Turkey is rushing to export 100 million dollars.

Turkey, which is among the top five producers across the world in dried tomato exports, increased its dried tomato export from 48 million dollars to 62 million dollars in the January-August period of 2021 with a rise of 29 percent.

Tomatoes grown in Anatolian soil and dried in the Anatolian sun; It adds flavour to a wide range of dishes from pasta to salads, from breakfasts to soups, from rice to meat, chicken and fish.

Expressing that dried tomatoes are also a source of healing, Aegean Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters’ Association Chair Hayrettin Uçak underlined that the Aegean Region is the leader in the production and export of dried tomatoes.

Informing that a large portion of 60 million dollars of Turkey’s 62 million dollar dried tomato export in 2021 was made by the members of Aegean Exporters’ Association, Uçak said, “Dried tomatoes obtained from 15 million tonnes of fresh tomatoes grown in Anatolian lands are exported from the USA to Italy, from Canada to Germany. We export to more than 100 countries, from Brazil to Japan. We aim to increase our dried tomato export to over 100 million dollars by the end of 2021.”
