Ferhat Gürüz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, announced that Türkiye, which exported 260.3 million dollars of fresh fruit and vegetables in June, reached 1.71 billion dollars in the first half of 2024. Stating that they supported this performance by 45 percent as the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, Ferhat Gürüz also reported that the region’s exports amounted to 770.5 million dollars.
“Our sector is of strategic importance with the net foreign currency input it provides to the national economy and the values it creates in the processes from harvesting to packaging, from transport to export,” Gürüz said.

Pointing out that January-June period of the country’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports according to product groups, Gürüz explained, “In 6 months of the year, our sector evaluated 2 million 239 thousand tonnes of products in international markets. In the list of product groups that we exported the most in the said period, tomatoes ranked first with a value of 255.7 million dollars. This was followed by tangerine with a value of 234.6 million dollars and pepper with a value of 160.6 million dollars. In the January-June period of 2024, we achieved the strongest performance in export volume in onion, orange and plum exports.”
“We reached an export value of 14.7 million dollars with an increase of 185 percent in onions, 72 million dollars with an increase of 107 percent in oranges, and 21.6 million dollars with an increase of 48 percent in plums. We also achieved significant spikes in pomegranate, persimmon, watermelon, cherry, peach, apricot and grapefruit,” Gürüz added…
