The cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products sector, which continues to be the export leader in the Southeastern Anatolia region, boosted its exports by 7.3 percent in the half of the year to 1.6 billion dollars.
“The share of the Southeast in world pasta exports is close to 20 percent”
Celal Kadooğlu, Chair of Southeastern Anatolia Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association, stated that the share of the region, which hosts a significant portion of pasta producers in Türkiye, in total pasta exports continues to surge.
Emphasizing that Gaziantep and Mardin provinces are very central in the world pasta production, he said, “In the first half of this year, the pasta exports of our region rose by 67 thousand tonnes compared to last year and reached 490 thousand tonnes. By reaching approximately 1 million tonnes of pasta exports at the end of the year, Southeastern Anatolia will have made half of Italy’s pasta exports in terms of quantity.”
“These results also mean that the share of our region in the world pasta exports in terms of tonnage is close to 20 percent. Italy, which has a much higher share in terms of value, exports mainly in the EU market, where we are blocked by quotas. In the pasta exports of our region, the African and American continents stand out,” he added…
