OCTOBER ABUNDANCE IN FRESH FRUIT EXPORTS…

Ferhat Gürüz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, announced that Türkiye’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports in October reached 314 million dollars with an increase of 31 percent compared to the same period last year and stated that the positive results of the efforts to boost market diversity started to be reflected in the reports. Ferhat Gürüz also said that in October, they achieved a rise of up to 4 times in export volume in Iraq, Canada, India and Saudi Arabia markets.

Emphasising that the fresh fruit and vegetable sector is of strategic importance due to the net foreign currency inflow it provides to the national economy, creating employment for millions of people in the process from harvesting to packaging, from transportation to export, Gürüz said, “As the leading Association, we are working without a break to further strengthen the perception of ‘Quality Turkish Goods’ and expand market diversity. In this framework, we successfully organised the national participation in the Fruit Attraction Fair held in Madrid, the capital of Spain, in the first week of October and held productive business meetings.”

Fruit Attraction Fair

Pointing out that Fruit Attraction, which they attended with a total of 16 companies, is considered one of the most important fruit and vegetable fairs in the world, Gürüz added, “This fair is the meeting point not only for Spaniards but also for importers and buyers from all over the world. We also worked for new export connections in this big market established in Madrid. On the first day of the fair, representatives of our exporter companies held consultations on the Spanish market with our Ambassador to Madrid, Mrs Nüket Küçükel Ezberci and our Commercial Counsellors Savaş Tarhan and Nazlı Seza Onat, who visited the Turkish pavilion. We hope to see the positive reflections of our efforts to hike our exports of citrus varieties, pomegranate and quince in the near future.”
