TURKISH TARHANA PRODUCED IN KAHRAMANMARAŞ AND EXPORTED TO EUROPE…

“Maraş tarhana” is exported to European countries in the form of packaged crisp. Tarhana producer Samet Çiftarslan said, “The export that we started when expatriates demanded this product in Turkish markets in the countries they live in, has increased rapidly with the demand of the local people of these countries.”

The flavour of Kahramanmaraş, which is famous for its ice cream and pepper, consumed as snacks in summer and soup in winter, “Maraş Tarhana” is exported to European countries in the form of packaged crisps. Protected by geographical indication registration, “Maraş tarhana” can be consumed in four seasons with its various types.

Tarhana, which is spread to dry on the gardens and roofs of detached houses for a period and produced in facilities to meet the increasing demand, also attracts attention in the world markets.

Tarhana makers in the province, which transform the snack tarhana into crisps with the help of a machine, offer the packaged product to the domestic and foreign markets with options such as baked, hot, creamy, creamy and plenty of yogurt.

Samet Çiftarslan, the owner of the company that has been producing tarhana for 40 years in the region, stated that tarhana is a tradition from the past in Turkey, but it is known in different ways in different regions and this product is consumed only as soup in other regions.

45 PERCENT OF PRODUCTION IS FOR EXPORT…

Çiftarslan indicated that they produce different varieties in line with the increasing demands, thus making tarhana a snack that people can consume as crisps.

Pointing out they produce with an annual capacity of approximately 700 tonnes, Çiftarslan added, “There is a production of 1700 tonnes throughout Kahramanmaraş, of which approximately 45 percent is exported.”
