Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı stated that sacrificial animals brought to markets for Eid al-Adha but unable to be sold will be purchased by the Meat and Milk Board (ESK).

Yumaklı announced that there were no problems with the supply of sacrificial animals this year.
Emphasising that approximately 58 per cent more large and small livestock were offered for sacrifice compared to last year’s sales, Yumaklı said that citizens would be able to find the sacrificial animals they wanted at the sales sites.
Yumaklı pointed out that they have taken all necessary precautions regarding sacrificial animal sales and transportation, and stated that they are monitoring both consumers and producers during inspections.

Underlining that producers devote considerable effort to preparing sacrificial animals for sale during Eid al-Adha, with unsold animals being bought by ESK to acknowledge the breeders’ work, considering their costs for determining purchase prices, Yumaklı said, “Required documents for purchase applications include animal identity papers and transportation reports from agriculture and forestry authorities, enabling farmers to have their animals slaughtered at the nearest slaughterhouse. Following checks in the TÜRKVET system, animals meeting ESK criteria are bought as carcass meat.”
Yumaklı also highlighted the use of digital tools for monitoring and supervision, including the “Tarım Cebimde – Agriculture in My Pocket” app to help buyers inquire about the animals’ details.
