SAFFET KALYONCU: EXPORTS FROM EASTERN BLACK SEA REGION CONTINUE TO RISE EVERY MONTH

Press release…

Saffet Kalyoncu, Chairperson of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Associations (DKİB), in his written statement, said that exports from the Eastern Black Sea Region Trabzon, Rize, Artvin and Gümüşhane provinces, which are under the jurisdiction of their Secretariat General, amounted to 842,641,317 USD in the January-July 2021 period, while their exports in the same period of the previous year were 769,542,294 USD). There was an increase of 9 percent compared to the previous term.

Kalyoncu said, “In the first 7 months of 2021, there was a rise of 4 percent in the exports of Trabzon and 27 percent in the exports of the province of Gümüşhane, while the highest increase was experienced in the exports from the province of Rize, with a hike of 56 percent.”

Pointing out that while there has been a 6 percent decrease in the exports of Artvin Province, this is due to the decrease in fresh fruit and vegetable exports to Georgia, the most important market of the province, because of the low demand compared to previous years, Kalyoncu explained, “In the first 7 months of the year covering the January-July period of 2021 from our provinces of Trabzon, Rize, Artvin and Gümüşhane, the sectors with the highest exports are respectively; Hazelnuts and Products, with an export of 438,294,733 USD, ranked first, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable products ranked second with an increase of 22 percent and exports of 118,115,117 USD, Mining and Metal products ranked third with an export of 100,769,787 USD and the Fisheries sector, with an export of 66.430.399 USD, came fourth.”

“Exports were made to 125 different countries from our Eastern Black Sea Region in the first 7 months of 2021 and the first 5 countries to which the most exports were made are respectively; Italy, the Russian Federation, Germany, the People’s Republic of China and Georgia. Among these countries exports to Italy soared by 33 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while exports to the Russian Federation increased by 43 percent and to the People’s Republic of China by 32 percent,” Kalyoncu added…
