Record production in beet after wheat: It will be over 1 million tonnes!
Following the record production in wheat in Türkiye’s Central Anatolian province Sivas, a record production is also expected in sugar beet. Sivas Governor Yılmaz Şimşek said that the yield in beet production could be over 1 million tonnes.
Sivas broke the record with 800 thousand tonnes of wheat harvested in general. A record is expected in beet, following the wheat record. While beet production was around 815 thousand tonnes last year, it is estimated that this yield will exceed one million tonnes this year.
In Sivas, which is one of the important production regions in Türkiye in terms of sugar rate, quality and planting area and ranks 6th in sugar beet production according to TUIK data for 2021, the harvest period has started in sugar beet.
Sivas Governor Yılmaz Şimşek participated in the sugar beet harvest held in the Aşağıyıldızlı village of the region, organized by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.
