OSMAN OZ: TURKIYE HAS SET A TARGET OF 48 PERCENT SHARE IN GLOBAL RAISIN EXPORTS

The 63rd International Conference of Seedless Raisin Producing Countries was hosted by the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association with the participation of delegations from Argentina, Australia, Chile, South Africa, Türkiye and the USA.

While seedless raisin producing countries aim to export 486,926 tonnes of raisins worldwide in 2023, Türkiye has set a target of 48 percent share in the world exports with 236,346 tonnes of raisin exports.

The raisin sector has an important share in the world dried fruit market with a market share of approximately 25 percent.

Osman Öz, Chairman of the Turkish Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Associations Sector Board, delivered the opening speech of the International Seedless Raisin Producing Countries Conference and said: “The world dried fruit market is estimated to be around 11 billion dollars. The raisin sector has an important share in the world dried fruit market with a market share of approximately 25 percent.”

Pointing out that the past few years have been marked by a series of challenges, including the global Covid-19 crisis, the conflicts in Russia-Ukraine and various economic problems, Osman Öz added, “We had to make great efforts to adapt and survive in the face of these developments. At the 63rd International Conference of Seedless Raisin Producing Countries, we had the opportunity to have a detailed consultation with representatives from Argentina, Australia, Chile, South Africa, Turkey and the USA, which will shape the future of our industry.”
