SmartMole’s founder, Agricultural Engineer A. Ömer Yuluğ, said that more than 50% of water and fertilizer savings can be achieved in agriculture and landscaping with cyber physical technologies.
Stating that according to DSI (State Hydraulic Works) data, Turkey has 94 billion m3 of usable surface water annually and 18 billion m3 of groundwater that can be drawn annually, Yuluğ emphasized that there is a total of 112 billion m3 of usable water potential. Yuluğ touched upon the water shortage in Turkey and how to save money in water usage areas.
Indicating that the problem of operating the drip irrigation method in surface irrigation efficiency continues all over the world, Yuluğ said, “It is not enough to change the irrigation method. This physical structure depends on the water needs of the living thing, microclimate, climate, vegetative period, soil and plant health, efficient use of water and energy, etc. In order to be able to serve, it definitely needs management technologies that are compatible with nature.”
Pointing out that with smart irrigation technologies, it is possible to prevent water and fertilizer from escaping under the effective root zone of the plant and to manage irrigation systems in real time, Yuluğ added, “We must get rid of human errors. The way to do this is the spread of artificial intelligence-assisted cyber-physical Agriculture 5.0 technologies, which can produce paradigms about the unknown that are compatible with the laws of nature, which can be inspired by people who are experts in the subject.”
“While determining and meeting the different water needs of the plants during the development periods under the farmer’s conditions, it can achieve more than the scientifically expected savings from that irrigation method without causing loss of yield. SmartMole’s destroys the part between the scientific goals and the use of water, fertilizer, labor and chemicals, which pollutes the nature and causes harm to the farmer. We can be successful in doing what should be done within the framework of the laws of nature by eliminating human errors, by ensuring that the farmer sees what they cannot see and is trained,” Yuluğ concluded…
