Dursun Oğuz Gürsoy, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters’ Association (KFMİB), said that their target is to export over 300 thousand tonnes of hazelnuts in the 2024-2025 season, which started on 1 September.
Gürsoy stated that Turkish hazelnut has proven itself in the world with its quality and exporters and emphasised that Turkish hazelnut is preferred.
Gürsoy reminded that in the 2023-2024 export season, which started on 1 September 2023 and ended on 31 August 2024, 303 thousand 458 tons of hazelnuts were sold for 2 billion 349 million dollars.
Pointing out that the revenue from hazelnut exports soared by 30.86 percent compared to the 2022-2023 season, Gürsoy indicated that this spike is important and pleasing for the country.
Pointing out that Turkish hazelnut has proven itself in the world with its quality and exporter, Gürsoy said, “In addition, we have seen that some negativities experienced in rival countries that grow hazelnuts recently have benefited Turkish hazelnuts. In some countries, the yield is low, while in others the quality may be defective. For this reason, consumers prefer Turkish hazelnuts.”
Highlighting that hazelnuts are sold to about 130 countries from Türkiye, Gürsoy added, “With the 2024-2025 season starting on 1 September, exporter companies started to send products to many countries.”
