Turkish salmon exports from the Eastern Black Sea region in the first two months of 2025 exceeded 8.6 million dollars and made a significant contribution to the regional economy.
While most exports were made to Russia, Belarus and Vietnam were among other important markets.
RUSSIA WAS THE BIGGEST MARKET…
İsmail Kobya, Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association Fisheries Sector Committee, stated that 1234 tonnes of Turkish salmon were exported from the region in January and February. Russia ranked first with a purchase of 7.3 million dollars.

“The Russian Federation was followed by Belarus with 460 thousand 147 dollars and Vietnam with 308 thousand 254 dollars. Turkish salmon was also sold to Japan, Canada, Ukraine and Georgia,” Kobya said.
92 PERCENT OF EXPORTS FROM TRABZON PROVINCE…
Stating that 92 percent of the Turkish salmon exports from the Eastern Black Sea region were carried out from Trabzon region, Kobya emphasised that 1132 tonnes of salmon were exported to 5 countries from Trabzon, generating 7.9 million dollars in revenue.
TARGET: TO BRING TURKISH SALMON TO WIDER MARKETS
Pointing out that the demand for Turkish salmon is increasing and that efforts are underway to expand exports to more countries, Kobya added, “Turkish salmon is becoming more and more known in the world in terms of quality and taste, in addition to that, our search for new markets continues.”
