Indonesia and Türkiye co-operate to boost global agricultural exports…

The agreement signed on 12 February 2025 between Indonesia and Türkiye marks a strategic step towards the development of cooperation in the export of agricultural products between the two countries. The signing ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace in Bogor, West Java, with the participation of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Indonesian Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman and Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı signed the agreement, which strengthens economic and trade relations in the agricultural sector.

Palm oil

The cooperation focuses on increasing exports of Indonesia’s key agricultural products such as coffee, palm oil, rubber, spices (such as pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon), tea, cocoa, tropical fruits (such as mango, pineapple and banana) and livestock products. In addition, Türkiye will also export wheat to Indonesia to support the country’s food needs.

Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasised that this agreement provides significant opportu.nities for Indonesia to boost its agricultural exports to Türkiye and is a result of global demand for Indonesia’s high-quality agricultural products. In addition to enhancing trade, the two countries also committed to strengthen cooperation in agricultural technology, joint research, technical training and the development of digital-based smart agriculture.

As part of this cooperation, a Steering Committee will be established for the effective and sustainable implementation of the signed agreement. This partnership positions Türkiye as a strategic ally for Indonesia and creates positive impacts on agricultural development and food security in both countries.
