Sheep and Goat Breeders’ Association of Turkey (TÜDKİYEB) Chairperson Nihat Çelik said that he asked for the disclosure of profiteers who increase food prices because of the Ramadan and to be given the most severe punishment to these people.
In his written statement, Çelik pointed out that despite the measures taken within the scope of combating the coronavirus epidemic, social mobility continues. Çelik also underlined that citizens should follow the measures much more during Ramadan.
Control mechanisms should be put into effect!
Nihat Çelik stated that the prices of meat and many foods were increased in this process and said, “Opportunists who raised food prices on the occasion of Ramadan should be exposed and the heaviest penalties should be imposed. Opportunists are becoming more dangerous than the virus, victimizing both manufacturers and consumers.”
Indicating that the control mechanisms should be put into effect very effectively in this regard, Çelik added, “We trust our state and our Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to punish the opportunists who provide unfair gains by focusing on food inspections during the month of Ramadan”.
