Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) organised Türkiye’s National Participation in Foodex Fair for the 25th time with the participation of 42 successful companies in the food sector in Türkiye and enabled 42 Turkish companies to hold more than 500 bilateral meetings with 150 Japanese importer companies in order for the country to get more share from Japan’s 70 billion dollars food imports.

Muhammet Öztürk, Chair of the Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association, stated that they carried out a TURQUALITY Project covering Japan and South Korea between 2015-20 with the support of the Ministry of Trade in order to enhance the brand value of Turkish food products.

Emphasising that the Aegean Exporters’ Association is the leader in the export of food products from the country to Japan, Muhammet Öztürk said, “We visited non-governmental organisations to boost cooperation between the two friendly countries. We held the most productive meeting with Otsuma Women’s University. The cereals pulses oil seeds sector increased its exports to Japan, mainly pasta, to 106 million dollars in 2024 with an increase of 12 percent.”

“Our sector achieves 29 percent of our food exports to Japan. While our pasta exports were 73 million dollars, chocolate products were 12.4 million dollars and vegetable oils were 4.5 million dollars. When Turkish cuisine is included in the curriculum of Otsuma Women’s University, chefs will be trained to prepare menus with Turkish food products according to Japanese taste.
