“DON’T QUIT THE ANIMAL HUSBANDRY!”

’12th Development Plan will improve animal husbandry, never leave the profession’

Nihat Köse, Head of Adana Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons, drew attention to the steps to be taken in the livestock sector in the 12th Development Plan published by the Presidential Strategy and Budget Directorate.

“Very logical and scientific plans have been made. Supports and developments are targeted in ovine husbandry, silkworm breeding, beekeeping and many other categories. I especially appeal to our breeders, they should never give up animal husbandry. Our producers will earn the money they deserve thanks to such planning in the long term,” he said.

‘ALL ISSUES DISCUSSED’

Stating that the fact that livestock breeders have had difficulty in maintaining their professions in recent years has not been ignored and that the development plan has been made accordingly, Köse explained, “Agriculture and animal husbandry have been put in an important place in planning. All issues were handled strictly. Supports and developments were targeted in ovine husbandry, silkworm farming, beekeeping and many other categories. Subsequently, the ministry increased the support given to animal husbandry by more than one hundred percent. Livestock breeding in Türkiye started to go backwards and people started to leave this profession. Thanks to this planning, I think the situation will change. I especially appeal to our breeders, they should never leave animal husbandry. Our producers will earn the money they deserve in the long term thanks to such planning.”

‘RED MEAT GAP TO BE ELIMINATED’

Pointing out that production will surge within 4 years, he added, “With the implementation of the plan, the support given to ovine breeders will increase, pastures will be enriched, unused pastures will be rehabilitated and operated and production will increase. Thus, the ‘red meat deficit’ that emerges from time to time in our country will be closed and this problem will be eliminated.”
