Our dried figs set its route to North America

In the first half of the 2023-24 season, Türkiye ramped up its exports from 179 million dollars to 216 million dollars with a spike of 21 percent in the first half of the 2023-24 season in dried figs, which is described as the fruit of paradise and Türkiye is the world leader in production and exports.

However, Türkiye’s dried fig exports decreased by 5 percent from 50 thousand 61 tonnes to 47 thousand 343 tonnes on quantity basis in the 2023/24 season.

Despite the 5 percent decrease in the quantity of dried fig exports, the 21 percent increase in value was possible thanks to the 27 percent increase in the average export price of dried figs in dollar terms.

The successful export journey of dried figs was discussed at the 2023 ordinary financial general assembly meeting of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association held at the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB).

Mehmet Ali Işık, President of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association, said that Türkiye had a successful export season in dried figs, which is included in the World Health Organisation’s list of healthy foods.
