Press release…
Veysel Memiş, Coordinating Chairman of the Mediterranean Exporters’ Associations (AKİB), announced that they had achieved exports worth 1.65 billion dollars in April. Noting that they achieved a 27 percent spike in export performance compared to the same period last year in the fourth month of the year, he stated, “Double-digit growth in export volumes was recorded in the sectors of iron and non-ferrous metals, fresh fruit and vegetables, cereals, pulses and oilseeds and chemical products.”

“The highest export values in the fourth month of the year were achieved in the Italian, Romanian and Iraqi markets, whilst the strongest growth in export volume was observed in the Spanish, Moroccan and Egyptian markets,” he noted.
Assessing the picture that emerged in regional exports in April as a reflection of strategic transformation on the ground, he added, “The 27 percent spike demonstrates that we are moving in the right direction towards our goal of establishing a balanced and widespread export structure that is not dependent on individual markets. Exchange rates, costs and the balance of demand remain critical for our exporters. However, we are confident that we will maintain this momentum thanks to our production capacity, flexible market structure and state support. Our aim is to conclude the year with double-digit growth.”
