“We will carry our citrus exports to better levels”
Kemal Kaçmaz, Deputy Chairman of the National Citrus Council, said that citrus made a significant contribution to the country’s economy in the first quarter of the year.
Stating that they expected to export more in the first quarter, but they experienced a decrease in the amount due to the cold weather in February, Kaçmaz also noted that efforts are continuing to reach better points in foreign sales in the process.
Highlighting that they export citrus fruits at an annual level of 1 billion dollars, Kaçmaz added, “Normally, when we look at the years, it does not fall below 1 billion dollars. If we do not experience natural disasters and if the yield continues in the normal course, we want to exceed our target. If the summer heat does not affect too much, our expectations will be better.”
